This speed is achieved through adding a reservoir that contains preheated water, this in effect cuts the time it takes for water to boil in half. The downside, as expressed by some consumers, is a slightly higher energy consumption and electricity bill. To bypass this issue, you could of course switch off the 'keeping the hot water' option. Yet, users who did that complained that it takes as much as 15 minutes to make coffee when you switch it back on. So it is not something you can do on a daily basis.
